An estimator fed two drawing sets to a chatbot, one file at a time, and found a changed curb the bid had missed. Catching the next one takes a register for every issued set and a person who decides what enters the price.

Procore agreed to buy DroneDeploy on 29 July 2026, the day it reported its first GAAP operating profit. Its agents could read every document on a project. They could not see the work.

McKinsey's estimate and DEWALT's survey measure different things. The contractors who have published their own numbers count weekly use, in hours, on a single tool, and they are the large ones.
Software
SpaceXAI released Grok 4.7 on 21 September 2026. Its own table puts the model first on EEBench and the Harvey legal bench at $2 and $6 per million tokens, while Fable 5.1 keeps the coding leads.

A 16 September 2026 Suffolk and MIT white paper models 17-20% cost and 22-25% schedule savings from six AI levers on one multifamily project. Its own footnote calls the gains directional, not construction-validated.
Robotics
Two Gravis-retrofit excavators and two Kajima A4CSEL compactors work under supervision at Jurong Innovation District since January. JTC announced the pilot 17 September 2026; Phase 1 ends early 2027. Operator and speed figures are targets.

About $0.042 per million input tokens; output is free. Calls land in tens to hundreds of milliseconds on TypeSafe's figures. Its accuracy claims mostly mean matching big chat models on typed questions, not a human grade.

A DroneDeploy post on 15 September says HOCHTIEF gets a weekly survey of its Leverkusen bridge rebuild from a DJI Dock 2 flown remotely by Skyports from Madrid, with the dock in place until 2028. The vendor gives no figure.

DroneDeploy's Sept. 2 to 9, 2026, case study and X post put the rail contractor's program at 86 sites, 5,594 flights and 1,974 ground walks, all captured by in-house Part 107 pilots on one stack. The figures are vendor-reported.
Software
The Texas contractor's in-house AI assistant now reaches 705 people a month and reads Procore, scheduling, estimating and Microsoft 365, by company figures published Sept. 1–2, 2026. The counts are the company's own and unaudited.
Robotics
Bedrock and Sundt put counted yardage on supervised autonomous truck loading. The figures date to 18 Nov and 12 Dec 2025 and are the only production numbers in print as of a 2 Sep 2026 Bedrock post.

The humanoid maker and the AI infrastructure firm plan a Vera Rubin cluster in Barstow, Texas, with first capacity targeted for the second half of 2027. Here is what the deal says and what it leaves out, as of 3 September 2026.

GRAHAM Group UK is tying drone maps to survey control before the first flight. A vendor clip on X shows the procedure. Neither company has published a measured result.

Cory Greenwood joined the $1.1 billion airport concourse job in February to build AI tools with the project team, one of five engineers Suffolk has placed on jobs since January. What he does, what Suffolk claims, and what is measured.

The innovation chief of a 400-person California GC spent August explaining Sentinel, the system Novo built instead of buying, and the AI on it: insurance certificates 99 percent automated, RFIs drafted from 14 years of Novo's writing.
Benchmarks
Five tests published since August, by vendors and universities, score frontier models on real construction drawings. Schedules and notes come back near human. Counting and scale measurement do not. The numbers side by side.

Bedrock Robotics says its retrofitted excavators dig with no operator on Sundt, Zachry, and Champion Site Prep jobs in Texas and Nevada. A Florida contractor runs three haul trucks from a desk forty miles away. What has been counted.

Procore split the log on 18 August, OpenSpace added dictation and auto-location, and a superintendent posted numbers from an app he built to push photos into the record. What changed, dated, and what to ask before September.

Elon Musk says AI and robots will make work optional. As of 2 September the robots Tesla has put in public are cars without drivers, now all over Austin, and the humanoid meant to do the work has not been shown.
Robotics
Bricklaying and humanoid robots make the headlines. The robots contractors keep rehiring print lines on slabs and drill holes in ceilings, and the crews that ran them have published the hours.

A roofing contractor put the new persistent agent on a permit, an inspection booking and insurer notifications. The useful part is the handoff, and the limit.
Benchmarks
AI models are getting better at rebuilding apartment plans from interior photos. That score does not prove a model can read a drawing set. Contractors need tests built around revisions and sheet coordination.
Software
Business AI plans can keep company files out of model training and still retain prompts, uploads, or application state. Contractors need the exact rule for each product, feature, and data class before a project file enters the chat.
Benchmarks
Anthropic's September 2026 release scores 31.4 percent on AutomationBench against 17.1 for Fable 5. Part of the gap is a safeguard. Cache reads cost 75 percent less. Zero data retention depends on where you buy it.
